Our sweet Labrador mix Reba had the chance to try The Farmer’s Dog fresh dog food meal delivery service that brings homemade dog food right to your door.

This trial came at the perfect time for us…

We were several weeks into gut health issues, making bland boiled beef and rice daily to keep up with our growing pup – at the time Reba was only 4 months old – and help heal her digestive system so she could hopefully get back to eating ‘normal’ dog food.

"Reba
Did someone say fresh dog food delivered right to my door? Yes, please!!

I don’t know if you’ve ever smelled boiled beef, but it isn’t pleasant. It seemed to be the scent that pervaded our house 24 hours a day.

This was no good.

That’s why we decided to do our first trial and bring you this unbiased The Farmer’s Dog review of their fresh dog food delivery service.

Given the fact they are a company that is changing the way people think about feeding their pups by delivering human-grade food for dogs right to my doorstep, I jumped at the chance!

No more boiled meat? Provide countless health benefits for my Reba who wasn’t feeling well?

Count me in!

The Farmer’s Dog Story

Farmer’s Dog, headquartered in New York, NY was co-founded by friends Brett Podolsky and Jonathan Regev.

It all started because, like Reba, Brett’s dog, Jada, was really sick with stomach issues for more than two years.

He had been in and out of vet visits to try to figure out how to help her.

Our pets are our kids, and it breaks our hearts when we can’t find a solution that works.

He was finally recommended to try home-cooking his dog food and found that Jada was becoming a brand new pup.

But taking the time to make meals with fresh ingredients for your dog can be very time-consuming.

That prompted him to look around for companies that provided homemade dog food that he didn’t have to make.

His search for a complete, healthy, and easy meal plan for Jada came up short.

Brett realized they were probably not the only ones needing the healing benefits that fresh-made dog food could provide, but not having the time to provide it.

So he teamed up with his friend Jonathan and The Farmer’s Dog began.

Podolsky and Regev have partnered with board-certified veterinary nutritionists to create recipes that meet and exceed AAFCO standards with human-grade ingredients to provide your pups with a balanced diet.

Farmer’s Dog Food Recipes

When you create an account on the website, you are asked several questions about your dog’s breed, current size, ideal weight, eating style, activity level, and any issues (such as allergies, gas, itchiness, hyperactivity, etc.).

"Your

With this information, The Farmer’s Dog veterinary nutritionists create a meal plan unique to your dog.

Your price per week – charged every 2 weeks – is determined by the amount of food your dog needs to be at its most healthy for the life stage he or she is in.

While we’re talking about food, let’s dig in and see what The Farmer’s Dog recipes offer in the way of fresh, grain-free ingredients.

The first thing I notice is that right on the outside of the package of food for the day, there is a label that reads “Reba’s” in big bold letters, with whatever recipe it happens to be below her name.

"The

Then at the bottom of the label, they include the day the meal was cooked with love.

And you can’t beat meals prepared with heart.

Underneath the date is the reminder, in case you forgot, “Real Food – Made Fresh – Keep Frozen”.

Farmers Dog Turkey Recipe

This recipe is better than I eat!

Parsnips that are full of Vitamin C & B6 supporting not only a healthy metabolism but also help to regulate our pup’s nervous system.

I love parsnips for myself and usually never think about getting them.

It includes chickpeas that are a great source of fiber and protein in dog food. This helps keep our pets fuller longer without the supplements and fillers that dry dog food adds.

I was nervous about the turkey recipe because Reba didn’t do well with the other poultry, chicken, but she loved it!
